July 20, 2021This week in our Money Savvy instalment, we will explore how you can make money by working from home
This past year has really changed the world of working with a lot more companies embracing the idea of working from home. Some people i.e. those made redundant or on furlough have embraced the idea of making money working from home too by turning their hand to things they would have never expected to earn money from pre pandemic.
Sell your creations
If you have a passion for creating – be that clothing, baking, pottery, etc – why not turn that passion into a living?
Etsy is probably the most well known place for creatives to come together and sell their wares, however there are other websites out there who cater towards designing and selling your creations.
Websites such as Teespring work by letting you design your creations and then allow you to sell through them, only taking a cut when the design sells.
Now that restrictions are lifting, there will be opportunities to pay for a stall at various Makers Markets/Farmers Markets across the country. Search for your local market via Google and see if there are any opportunities to sell your wares there!
Enter contests at home
Technically classed as a hobby, entering competitions online is a potentially lucrative way of spending your time. However, it is time consuming scouring the sites to find the best competitions to enter.
Work as a freelancer
This is a good one! If you are happy to freelance for various companies – which means searching for jobs, putting your pitch/CV in, sorting out your own tax etc then freelancing could be a great way to work from home for you.
There are online companies out there such as PeoplePerHour and Fiverr that allow companies to list projects that they want to outsource. It involves the freelancer being able to bid on the posted job and submit their fee. It can be time consuming and competitive but you could earn a decent amount if you are successful at winning those bids!
So you have been given a few ideas on how to earn money working from home – we are sure that there are so many more ideas out there too, including setting up an alteration service if you’re a dab hand at working the sewing machine or even setting up an ironing business!
